Wonderbelly™
I was brought on as the sole designer to design the mobile product from zero to one, defining and designing the core user experience and brand of the Wonderbelly™ App, and leading user research and product evolution.
When I arrived at Wonderbelly there were high-fidelity wireframes based on some discovery research done by a previous designer. My first step was to audit those designs, do a competitive analysis, and make some targeted, high-impact changes to existing features use these early designs for user testing within a short timeline. I would then use these user insights to propose, design, and deliver larger changes, added features, and UI improvements.
Wonderbelly™ creates an over-the-counter Medicine that is enjoyable, clean & effective to help provide relief from everyday digestive health issues. The goal of this project was to support customers of Wonderbelly’s™ acid-reflux product with an app that can give customers even more agency in their gut health journeys, adding educational tools, meal & symptom tracking, and custom actionable insights.

Key Feature Snapshots
User Persona
Antacids don’t work at all. They’ve done a fair bit of research online, and has gone to a doctor and done some tests.
Has tried the obvious
Stomach issues are worrying, causing more stomach issues. Feeling safe and in control is important.
Experiences Anxiety
Wants to understand things for themselves. Doesn’t like the idea of taking too many pills. Skeptical of companies asking for data.
Trust is earned
Can have extremely specific triggers e.g. iced tea, spicy margarita but not spicy sauce.

Market Fit
Competative Analysis
While there are a handful of apps that claim to cover the Gut Health/ Food Tracking space, most are poorly designed, have an awkward or incomplete interface and a small user base. All but one app failed to create a user flow that made it easy log heal data systematically. All apps did not have an engaging way of visualizing data.
After Auditing existing app wireframes and conducting a competitive analysis my edits focused on
simplifying design language
buttoning up flows for onboarding and logging symptoms
creating some basic data visualizations.
User Testing

Is the Wonderbelly™ app useful to those living with Acid Reflux? How will they use it in the long term and how can we encourage more regular usage?
What are the main user pain-points?
Are there any low effort, high impact changes that can be made to improve the app?
What are their biggest unmet needs, and what ideas can we crowdsource?
How could the app evolve into the future?

Outcome
The Less Good
Wonderbelly was sprinting to market and growing so quickly that it caused disconnect in our digital product. I believe there was opportunity in developing a more cohesive design culture internally within other teams.
The Good
The mobile product was released in time for Wonderbelly’s “all doors” Target launch and has received generally positive first impressions from app store reviews as well as press from health+wellness centric publications.
